My expenses were still higher than I like in June. The biggest expense was for transportation. It will likely be my biggest expense for quite a while but I’d like to get it down. I spent almost $500 on gas in June. I’d like to reduce that this month. I thought I’d reduce it in June, but I ended up taking another long trip at the end of the month. I thought I could keep my expenses at about $700 for June, but that turned out to not be realistic. I’m hoping I can at least get my expenses under $1000 this month. That will be difficult because I’ve got to spend quite a bit of money in order to make a little money working as an extra. I’ll get my expenses under control eventually.
You’re living pretty darn cheap, you must still be in the van. Did you make any money from the movie extra gig?
I am still in the van but I have been staying with relatives or in a motel the past couple of weeks due to the heat. I’ve still got a couple more days of work left on the movie. It will probably be next month before I get paid.
I agree with Kurt. Your spending is about 1/5 of what mine is. I’d love to get down to your level!
Thanks, I think there is still room for improvement.
How in the world do you eat so cheaply? This isn’t all of your monthly expenses is it? How do you cover mortgage and utilities?
This month I stayed a week at my mom’s so I didn’t spend much on food that week. Plus I did a few fast food mystery shops. This is about how much I usually spend on food.
Jason, I believe he’s living in his van.
Andy, well done. I don’t think I’d have the perserverence to live as frugally as you are right now. Also, are you using a pre-paid cell phone? That’s pretty darn cheap!
I have a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone plan. It is $25 a month for 300 minutes talk, unlimited text and unlimited data. For new customers the rate is $35 a month but I’m grandfathered in at the $25 rate.
Wow transportation is a killer.
It is the category I need to work on the most. The amount does include $250 a month I’m paying on my van loan. Once I have it paid off there should be a big drop in this category.
I used to spend $800 on transportation alone. I totally know how it hurts to see that number on the expenses sheet.
When you lose the van loan note, you’ll really be doing great. Good Luck!
