Online Income Report – May 2011

Here is a breakdown of my online income for May 2011.

Google Adsense – $325.57

Affiliate Income – $230.63

Brokered Ads – $54

Direct Ads- $208.03

Total – $818.23

My online income was down about $100 from the month before but I am not complaining.  I’m making a very good amount of income online considering how little work I put into it.  I was happy that my Adsense got back over $300 for the first time in a few months.  I thought I had finally figured out the best placement but it looks like Adsense will barely be over $200 this month so I guess the $300 month was just a fluke.  I would like to increase my affiliate income to be a bigger part of my income.  That is easier said then done though and I don’t want to write a bunch of posts that are just promoting affiliate products.  I have greatly increased my direct ad income this month and it looks like I will be able to maintain that for at least another month.  There is still a lot of year left but it looks like I should not have a problem meeting my goal of being a five figure blogger.

  1. Actually I find affiliate marketing to be riskier than CPC advertising. I know a lot of “web gurus” try to push affiliate marketing, but the main reason behind that is that they themselves are earning a commission for every referal/sale they make.

I compare affiliate ads to adsense ads. When I have affiliate ads, I see people clicking on them, but if no sales/leads are generated I realize I have lost on revenue opportunities. With adsense someone clicks on the ad, and you are earning money. I see affiliate ads as riskier for bloggers, since you take a risk that no sale would be generated ever even if you get tons of clicks.

If you are running affiliate products however, affiliate ads are great for you, since you pay only when a sale is made.

    • I understand what you are saying but I think I have more upside potential with affiliate ads. One affiliate sale can equal a lot of clicks but you are right that it isn’t as consistent as Adsense. I’d like to be less dependent on Google.

    • I don’t actually put that much time into it. Much less than a full-time job. Since I’m starting to make some decent money I should put more time into the blog and make even more money.

  2. Great stuff Andy. I’d like to work on good affiliate income as well. Perhaps even do some consulting too online, I’m not sure.

Once you become a full fledged Yakezie Member, you will see that there are plenty of further opportunities.

    Stick with it!

    Best, Sam
