My expenses were reasonable in January. If it weren’t for the purchase of a new laptop and printer they would have been under my goal of $1000 and I still didn’t miss that target by much. There won’t be any large purchases in February and I expect my normal expenses to remain about the same so I should easily be under $1000 for expenses this month.
What an eye-opener! Your food budget of $115.09 works out to $3.71 per day for a 31-day month like January. How is this possible? I suppose you never eat out, for starters. I consider myself an extremely frugal person, but my food budget (which I don’t track all that precisely) is at least three and a half times what yours is. I really admire your self-discipline. This is like a whole new world opening up before my eyes!
Ray – In January my food budget broke down to $87.48 for groceries and $27.61 for dining out. I managed to have 7 restaurant meals on that $27. As you could probably guess those were cheap, fast-food meals.
