December Expenses – $1443.16

Here is a breakdown of my expenses for December.

Household

$755.86

Entertainment

$127.53

Transportation

$243.23

Food

$51.69

Medical/Dental

$57.44

Utilities

$102.41

Debt $95

Total

$1443.16

My expenses for December were up a little but that mainly was because of Christmas.  My food total only includes meals I eat out by myself, that is why it is low.  Transportation was up a little because I paid my personal property tax and drove more.  I need to buy tires this month so my transportation expense will probably be high again.  My household expenses should be down significantly and everything else should be about the same.  January expenses should not be much more than my $1000 goal.

October Expenses – $1432.16

Here is a breakdown of my expenses for October.

Household

$378.33

Entertainment

$285.37

Transportation

$468.93

Food

$100.25

Medical/Dental

$57.44

Utilities

$97.52

Debt $30
Bar Expenses $14.32

Total

$1432.16

My expenses for October were a little higher than I prefer.  This was due to my entertainment and transportation expenses being high.  The entertainment expense was high mainly due to out trip to Omaha and should be much smaller this month.  The transportation expenses was high due to the trip to Omaha and my trips to St. Louis for the medical study and I had to pay for six months of insurance.   I will be able to deduct the mileage to St. Louis and some driving I did for mystery shops so this expense isn’t as bad as it looks.  Transportation expense should be down substantially this month.

I came pretty close to hitting my target of $100 a month for food.  This amount is roughly half for groceries and half for eating out.  I plan to adjust this down to $75 a month with most of that amount going towards groceries.  Dinner dates with my wife are included in the entertainment category  and I get several opportunities a month to eat for free from mystery shopping so cutting back to $25 a month for eating out shouldn’t be hard.

I plan to pay more on my debt this month and the other expense categories should remain about the same.

August Expenses – $1326.82

Here is a breakdown of my expenses for August.

Household

$374.48

Entertainment

$211.33

Transportation

$454.13

Food

$121.24

Medical/Dental

$57.44

Utilities

$68.20

Debt $40

Total

$1326.82

My expenses for August were about the same as they were in July.  There were a couple of things that inflated my expenses for August.  I bought two new tires for my car and I registered for a marathon.  Even without the new tires my transportation expenses for August were too high.  I have been trying to cut back on that but I drive a lot to make money.  I put the marathon under entertainment expense.  My entertainment expense also needs to be seriously reduced.  Food also can be reduced a little.  Everything else will remain about the same. I’m hoping to get my expenses under $1000 this month not counting my bar exam registration fee.

July Expenses – $1311.23

Here is a breakdown of my expenses for July.

Household

$340.53

Entertainment

$86.49

Transportation

$251.92

Food

$125.51

Medical/Dental

$57.44

Utilities

$115.13

Wedding $334.21

Total

$1311.23

My expenses were up slightly from the previous month. This was mainly because I had $334.21 of wedding/honeymoon expenses.  I ended up spending a total of  about $1100 for the wedding and honeymoon.  DW probably spent about $200.  I think that is a pretty good deal.  There won’t be any wedding or honeymoon expenses this month so my total expenses will be down.  We are having a wedding reception this Saturday but the total cost of that is about $200 and my mother is covering that expense.

My transportation expense was much higher than I would prefer but that is mainly due to driving a lot for mystery shops.  Since I am now working a regular job I will be cutting back on the mystery shops and I should be spending a lot less in gas.  I might need to get some tires and other work done on the car though which would keep my transportation expense high again this month.

I spent way too much on food considering DW buys most of the groceries and I had lots of fast food mystery shops.  I need to cut back on the fast food and junk food purchases.

Everything else will probably remain about the same this month.

June Income- $873.35

Here is a breakdown of my income for June.

Online Income

$362.10

Interest

$19.36

Stock Dividends

$95.02

Mystery Shops

$344.96

Bank Bonuses

$20

Cashback

$.68

Job

$31.23

Total

$873.35

It was not a good month for income.  My job ended and I just had one tiny paycheck.   My online income wasn’t as high as I had hoped because I didn’t receive about $300 in affiliate sales and direct link sales that was owed me.  I should receive most of that money but it looks like Mint.com is going to be a deadbeat.  My total income will probably be even worse this month since I won’t have any job income and I am cutting back on mystery shopping.  I plan to get a job in August and get my income back up above my expenses.
