Lacking Motivation

I have lacked motivation to do much lately. My life is pretty good and it doesn’t require much effort on my part. Of course things could be even better with more effort but since things are pretty good with little effort it is hard to come up with the motivation to do more. Maybe if I just let things go until they are no longer good then I will be motivated to get things back to pretty good.

Gambling and Frugality

Gambling is not a frugal activity. Earlier this year my gambling was going pretty well but since then the tables have turned and I have been steadily losing money. I have noted that I am not disclosing my gambling wins and losses on this blog. I have not kept exact track of my gambling but I would guess that I have lost about $300-$400 gambling this year. That is not a big amount but with my small income it is too much. Also it seems a little silly to be trying to save a few dollars with coupons and then blow a $100 in the casino. I am frugal in all areas of my life except gambling. There is a disconnect between my beliefs and actions when it comes to gambling. Gambling was the major contributor to my filing bankruptcy 14 years ago. I am in control of my gambling now but I can still feel that urge to bet more and more. From now on I will be disclosing my gambling wins and losses. Also I will only bet when I think I have favorable odds and until I have a significant increase in income my gambling will be limited.

New Job Update

I apologize for the lack of posts in the last week. I was training for my new job and lacked any energy for the job after my work day. I am not made to sit inside for eight hours, especially not when most of that eight hours is spent listening to verbatim reading from an instruction book. This weekend was spent with my GF. Since she lives three hours away from me I don’t want to take away from my time with her to be on the computer.

The job should be much better from now on. I get to make my own schedule. I can work whatever hours I want and whatever days I want as long as I make reasonable progress on my work. I am naturally lazy which could lead to not working many hours but this job only lasts for a limited time and I want to make as much money as I can. My desire for money should offset my laziness.

This job pays $14.50 an hour plus I am reimbursed 50 cents a mile and I get paid from when I leave my home to when I return. This may not seem like much money to many of you but it is a lot to me. I have never had a job that paid nearly as much per hour. Some of my jobs probably paid more when you figured in tips, tokes, or commissions but this is the highest-paying job I have had for a straight wage. I hope I will have more jobs that pay even more than this. Or even better make more being self-employed.

Stay tuned I should have a post every day this week. At least I have post ideas for every day this week and I think I will actually get around to writing and posting them.

Domain Registry of America Scam

I recently received a domain renewal notice from Domain Registry of America telling me one of my domains was about to expire. The notice was misleading because at first glance it would cause one to think that their domain name is registered with Domain Registry of America. If read the notice more carefully you will see that when you “renew” the domain with them you are actually transferring your domain. I didn’t fall for this because I know who my domain registrar is and it isn’t Domain Registry of America.

After doing some research on the internet it appears they send out similar notices all the time. If you receive a domain renewal notice from Domain Registry of America or any other registrar other than the domain registrar you signed up with tread carefully because it is probably a scam.
