Here is a breakdown of my expenses for August.

August’s expenses were once again quite high. Expenses should get closer to a normal level this month.
Entertainment expense was $3.43. Amazon Prime was almost free after applying a free gift card to my account. I also have 1 year of Apple TV free from one of my credit cards.
My transportation expense consisted of $145.03 for gas and $274.56 for maintenance.
Food expense was $469.10. That is divided between $449.91 for groceries and $19.19 for restaurants. That is too high. We will be a little more thoughtful with our purchases this month and get the total back under $400.
Travel expense came in at $0.
Utilities came in at $1097.12. Internet was $40 and electric/water was $278.51. The big bill was $778.61 prepaying for this winter’s propane. This expense will be much lower this month, although the electric/water will still be high since we’ve had a heat wave/drought the last few weeks.
Household expense came in at $359.69. Some of that was for federal taxes and some was for my dog’s heartworm and flea and tick medicine. The rest was for miscellaneous household stuff.
I spent $15 for phone service. That is the usual monthly amount.
I paid $248.79 on my student loan. I’ve switched to the RAP plan which should save me thousands of dollars over the remainder of the loan period. It will slightly lower my payment for this month.
This month’s expenses should be quite a bit lower. How was your month?
