Here is a breakdown of my expenses for September.
Household | $119.60 |
Utilities | $348.51 |
Entertainment | $2.99 |
Transportation | $723.97 |
Food | $405.93 |
Health | $69.90 |
Visa | $445 |
Phone | $15 |
Total | $2130.90 |
September’s expenses were higher than I’d prefer.
Entertainment expense was for one month of Peacock and a Powerball ticket. My monthly Prime bill was paid by a free gift card I got for signing up for the Prime Visa card and my monthly Hulu bill is reimbursed by my Amex card.
My transportation expense consisted of $159.26 for gas and $564.71 for a new alternator.
Food expense was $405.93. That is divided between $244.32 for groceries and $161.61 for restaurants. The grocery bill is lower than normal since we had a shopping trip on the last day of August. I think I should get the restaurant expense down a little this month since I have some gift cards that are already accounted for and I’m going to try to reduce my consumption of fast food.
Visa expense came in at $445. The first step of my stepdaughter’s visa was approved so I had to pay some fees to start the next step in the process. This process is going slowly since the State Department website continually kicks me off before I can complete and save even one page. Researching online it seems this is a common issue. I’ve tried different browsers and different laptops, but the issue seems constant.
Utilities came in at $348.51. This was for electric, water, and internet. This was only slightly lower than the previous month. There are starting to be some cooler days, so this expense should go down a lot this month.
Household expense came in at $119.60. There wasn’t a big expense this month, it was just lots of miscellaneous.
I spent $15 for one month of phone service for my wife.
The $69.90 spent on health was for health insurance and otc medications.
September’s expenses were greatly increased by the visa fees and the car repair. I hope to not have any big expenses like that this month so this month’s expenses should be much lower. How was your month?
