August Expenses $1626.52

Here is a breakdown of my expenses for August.

Household$150.68
Utilities$359.44
Entertainment$1.99
Transportation$551.31
Food$486.64
Health$61.46
Travel$0
Phone$15
Total$1626.52

August’s expenses were a little higher than I’d prefer.

Entertainment expense was for one month of Peacock. My monthly Prime bill was paid by a free gift card I got for signing up for the Prime Visa card and my monthly Hulu bill is reimbursed by my Amex card.

My transportation expense consisted of $172.31 for gas and $379 for six months of car insurance.

Food expense was $486.64. That is divided between $372.17 for groceries and $114.47 for restaurants. The grocery bill is a little inflated since we had a shopping trip on the last day of the month. That should allow us to spend less on groceries this month. My restaurant expense was much lower than usual. It will be difficult to keep it that low again this month.

Travel expense came in at $0.

Utilities came in at $359.44. This was for electric, water, and internet. The electric/water bill was $319. That was caused by a lot of A/C use due to a heat wave and also a lot of watering of the yard and garden. There are starting to be some cooler days, so I’m hoping this expense will go down a lot this month.

Household expense came in at $150.68. There was an expense of $81 to pay for medicine for our dog. The rest was mostly spending on the yard and normal household stuff.

I spent $15 for one month of phone service for my wife.

The $61.46 spent on health was for health insurance.

This month’s expenses should be a little lower. How was your month?
