Personal Finance Links – Google Reader Edition

You have probably read about this a 1000 times by now, but just in case you somehow missed it I am letting you know that Google Reader is shutting down July 1st. If you want to keep reading Tight Fisted Miser through RSS you have a couple of options. You could use another RSS reader service such as Feedly, which is what I’ve been using. If you don’t like Feedly there are lots of other readers out there to try. Or you could just subscribe to get your posts by email using this link.

I’d also like to remind you once again that I will be starting my hike tomorrow. I’ll likely only have access to a computer about once a week. So it may take me a while to reply to a comment or email. Now, here are some posts I like from the past couple of weeks.

Beating the Game Show System at Don’t Quit Your Day Job. The man featured in this post had a sad but interesting life. If you have time you should look up the rest of his story.

Capitol One 360 Financial Independence Days at Bank Bonuses. Every year they have extra bonuses for the holiday. If you’re thinking of opening an account this is the best time to open one.

Cut the Crap at I Heart Budgets. Most people have a lot of crap to cut. Even though I’m pretty thrifty there is still some waste I could eliminate. 🙂

The 7 Deadly Retirement Sins at My Retirement Blog. You should make sure you’re not making any of these mistakes in your retirement planning.

Why Changing Your Behavior is More Important than Changing Your Budget at KrantCents. If you do not change your behavior you will just end up with the same problems again.

It Pays to Ask Questions at Plunged in Debt. It can’t hurt to ask and sometimes it can pay off handsomely.

ETRADE $600 IRA Bonus at Investorz Blog. If you are looking to move an IRA account this might be a good deal.

That is all for this week. I’m going to do my best to keep up with the blog while I’m hiking. There will be new content this week and we will see after that.
