Personal Finance Links – Devil’s Knot Edition

by Andy Hough on July 16, 2012

I have finished working on the movie, “Devil’s Knot”, and am now back in Missouri. It was a fun experience. I sat by Reese Witherspoon in one scene. She was very nice and actually introduced herself to me, shook my hand, and conversed a little. I should be easy to spot in the movie since I’m sitting right next to her. Although working on the movie was a fun experience it wasn’t really a profitable one. After paying for my room, gas to get there and back, and taxes I’ll probably barely break even.

Since my funds are limited right now I decided to skip hiking and head back to Missouri. I need to be here anyway to take care of some legal matters. Since it is still hot I’ll be staying at my Mom’s for the next month. If I were fully mobile I’d go north or to higher elevation to get away from the heat, but I need to be here now. I still plan on going on a road trip starting sometime in August. Other than that my plans are not clear. I need to work on that since it is hard to make progress when you don’t know where you’re going. It would be good to accomplish a few things during my stationary month.

Here are some posts from the past couple of weeks that I found interesting.

“Saving a Down Payment for a House” from Work Save Live.

“Psychology and Money” from Enemy of Debt.

“What Not to do When You Land Your First Grown-Up Job” from Thirty-Six Months.

“How to Make Money from Blogging” from Nate St. Pierre.

“Plan to Pay Off Debt” from Money Counselor.

“Does the Cash Method Really Work” from 20′s Finance.

“Budget Confessions” from I Heart Budgets.

“Warren Buffet’s Top 5 Tips for Investing” from The College Investor.

That is all for this week. I will try to post these links more often to thank those that comment on or link to the blog. Thanks for reading.

Do you not have air conditioning at your house? Since I’ve only been following your blog for a relative short time I assume that I’ve missed out on some pertinent information.

At least staying at your mom’s is an option! Thanks for the mention by the way. When will the movie be released? I will probably have to see it for the sole reason of saying that I follow somebody in it. lol.

You probably missed out on the fact that I’ve been living in my van for the last month or so.

The movie is scheduled to be released next year but there is no exact date yet. I’ll announce on the blog when it is coming out.

How rad is that. You’re famous now! I’m not much of a horror flick guy, but I need to see you in the movie so I can be all like “Hey, I know that guy on the internetz!”

Thanks for including me :)

The title sounds like a horror movie but it is actually a true crime story. I’ll be letting everyone know when it comes out. :)
