Personal Finance Links – Extreme Makeover Edition

by Andy Hough on January 16, 2012

My wife and I watched the series finale of “Extreme Makeover” on the big screen at a local movie theater this week. hey built seven houses for families that lost their homes in the Joplin tornado. The show was a big deal around here since it was shot in nearby Joplin and this area isn’t on TV very often. T Also a lot of local people were involved in the build team and/or were personally affected by the tornado. My wife was even interviewed by one of the local news stations. It was a pretty cool experience and it is nice to see some of the families being helped.

My weight dropped this week to 222.2 pounds. That is a loss of a little over a pound from last week. I’m happy with that. I fell off the wagon and drank soda one day this week but haven’t had any since. Although the soda tasted good it did give me a stomachache. I’ll remember that next time I want a soda. I still haven’t started exercising. Once I start doing that I hope to see the weight come off faster.

I did not come anywhere close to my writing goal this week. I probably did even worse than last week. I’m going to change my routines this week and see if that helps. I’m also thinking about giving myself some rewards for meeting my goal or punishment for not meeting my goal. I haven’t decided on those yet.

Congrats on your small step toward weight loss. I’ve dropped a couple of pounds in the fist 2 weeks of this year. Zero soda, plus an increase in exercise, have probably been the main contributors. I’m reminded how good it feels to be soda-free entirely. I did have a couple of less than healthy meals outside this weekend, but I’m back to healthy to start the week.

I think the key for me will be to get right back on track whenever I have a bad meal. I still need to start exercising.

Thanks for linking to my article. I’ve been tackling weight loss too but thus far haven’t stepped on a scale in a while, but I can tell from the fit of my clothes.
