Generation Earn: The Young Professional’s Guide to Spending, Investing, and Giving Back. This is a new book by Kimberly Palmer that is coming out October 12, 2010. She is the personal finance for US News & World Report and write the blog, Alpha Consumer. She is also the one who allowed me to become a regular contributor to the US News My Money Blog. I figure the least I could do is help promote her book.
This book is written as an answer to those that call the younger generation, “Generation Debt”, as well as a guide to help that generation to not deserve the label. The book has three parts, part one centers on the self, part two centers on the home, and part three addresses the world at large. I think this book will be a great resource for those in their 20′s and 30′s and many people older than that could probably learn from it too.
Most of the information about saving and investing is similar to what you would find in other personal finance books except it is written with her Generation X and Y audience in mind. Advice on on the personal finance aspect of marriage and babies is beyond what most personal finance books offer. The thing that most differentiates this book from other personal finance books is part three on giving back. There is great advice on green living, charities, and non-profits.
I will be giving away a copy of this book. The contest will end next Tuesday, October 12. I would really like this contest to generate a lot of publicity so in addition to entering by leaving a comment, you can make additional entries by tweeting about the contest, posting about the contest on your blog, or posting about it on Facebook. You could potentially have four entries. Let me know each way you promoted the contest so I can credit you with additional entries.
I plan to have book giveaways every week for the rest of the year. You can help me do that by generating a lot of interest in the giveaways so the publishers can see they are getting a good deal by sending me their books.
More about the giveaway. US addresses only please, I got to pay for the shipping. Winner will be drawn at random.
Thanks for entering and spreading the word.

We’re interested in entering the contest. I think the book is perfect for us as a couple, especially since we fall in the “debt generation.”
Thanks, looks like a good read

I’m 28 and my husband and I are about to have our first baby. I’m really interested in reading this book and seeing what Kimberly has to say; we can certainly use the advice. I hope we win.
Also posted to Facebook!
I would love to share this with my grown kids – maybe reading it would be more effective that listening to Mom “harp” about money. Thanks for making this available!

I look forward to reading each of your posts as soon as they come out. This book looks like a good one to read, and then pass on to my daughter and her husband. Thanks for all of the helpful information that you provide for us each week. You’ve inspired me to set up an online blog for potential earnings for myself! Thanks.
My son who is in college could learn from reading this book. He won’t always listen to me!
