Financial Samurai created the Yakezie Challenge to help bloggers promote their blogs and increase their Alexa rankings. I thought about joining the challenge when it first came out but decided against it since I thought I would be hiking most of the time. If you are not familiar with Alexa ratings you can read about them on the post at his site. Basically, Alexa rankings can affect how much advertisers pay you and how other media perceive your blog. There probably too much importance put on Alexa rankings but since that importance is there we might as well deal with it. I have already seen my ranking go up by about 100,000 the last week. Probably because of my post at the U.S. News My Money blog. It is my dream to someday make my living from writing on this blog and elsewhere online and I think joining the challenge is a step towards making that dream into an achievable goal.
