If you want to know what the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting in Omaha is like than this book is for you. Jeff Matthews of the financial blog JeffMathewsIsNotMakingThisUp gives us a detailed description of the annual meeting that is sometimes referred to as the “Woodstock of Capitalism.”
The book mainly focuses on the Q&A session with Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger at the two annual meetings Matthews attended. The book does give a little background information on Buffet and Munger and Berkshire Hathaway but the bulk of the content is about the annual meeting as you would expect from the title. If you want more details about the company or the men who run it this isn’t the right book. If you want to know all about the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting and the surrounding events in great detail than this is the right book. Matthews does a great job of describing the Q&A and the other events that take place in Omaha during Berkshire’s annual meeting. For having such a narrow subject I found the book to be an entertaining read. I feel like I have a good idea of what the actual experience is like and I’m somewhat tempted to make the drive up to Omaha from Kansas City next year and see the meeting for myself.
Matthews attended the meeting two years in a row and describes both meetings. The recounting of the second meeting was a little repetitious but that is to be expected since Buffet himself repeats stuff from meeting to meeting. Although it is obvious that Matthews has great respect for Buffet he does offer criticism of him as well. Some of that criticism seems a little forced but it is fair. The subtitle of this book is “A Hedge Fund Manager’s Dispatches from Inside the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting” and that perfectly sums up what this book is about.

“The Snowball” is a great read if you want to find out about Buffett’s life.
i want a copy
I did my management seminar thesis in college on Buffett back in 1995 – always a big fan!!
I think Warren Buffet is a true economic genius, who worked very hard to achieve his goals and has been around for a long time, so he has experience in a bull/bear market.
“Thanks for the Book giveaway”
