FBN Roundup- Turning on the Heat Edition

by Andy Hough on November 9, 2008

We’ve delayed turning off our heat for as long as possible but the weather has turned too cold for us.  We ended up turning on our heat this weekend but delaying turning on the heat saved us some money.

Here are some of my favorite post from the Frugal Blog Network and beyond this week.

Almost Frugal talked about taking care of your appliances.

Frugal Babe shares her adventures in baby food.

Frugal Zeitgeist tells us monitoring your accounts pays off.

Not Made of Money shares financial steps to take before the end of the year.

The Frugal Duchess shares how to save money on energy bills.

I Will Teach You to be Rich has a Save $1000 in 30 Days Challenge. I like the idea of this challenge although it would be hard for me to save $1000 when that is my total expense level. His hatred of frugality and frugal tips doesn’t really make any sense though. Especially since all his posts in the challenge so far are frugal tips that you see on frugality websites.

Hi there,

My name is Andy Lynch. I’m actually working with Ramit from iwillteachyoutoberich and he pointed me to this post.

Couple of things I wanted to ask you:

1. Ramit just put out a private video on automating your finances and we wanted to send it to you as a thank-you.

2. His new book is coming out, and for the people who pre-order the book (it’s about $10) in the next few days, you’ll get 6 chapters by PDF before anyone else, plus entry into a private community with premium content. Can I send you some more info and the link to the video? If yes, please drop me a line as soon as possible —
Thanks!

Andy
